Why a new system - why can't I just send a copy of my ID?
The problem here lies in the current legislation: On the one hand, the ID card law prohibits the storage of ID card data for longer than 60 days - on the other hand, the authorities expect that the correct verification of proof of age can be proven by the retailer up to 10 years after purchase. This, coupled with the GDPR, makes it necessary for us to a) use this age verification system and b) have it carried out by a partner.

In addition, there were several court decisions in 2019 that came to the conclusion that a mere age check before shipping is not sufficient - and that an additional check upon delivery is mandatory! Therefore, the proof of age must be checked in the store and upon delivery!

The new AVS system was therefore introduced in March 2019.

We hope this explains why, unfortunately, we can no longer directly accept ID cards as proof of age!

What happens to my ID data, who is the partner Insic?
Begadi works with the insic age verification system (AVS) for age verification before shipping. insic's procedures have been positively assessed by German youth media protection institutions such as KJM and FSM. insic checks your details using various procedures, e.g. GiropayID & external ID card recognition. Please also note the information on the insic data protection regulations in the GTCs.

The check takes place exclusively within the Begadi website or on the website of your account partner, it is not necessary to go to the insic website for this!

Please note: Only ID card recognition is available for the FSK16 check, as well as for customer accounts outside Germany (ID card recognition for 2,500+ different ID card formats). If the software cannot automatically recognize your ID upload, our customer service team will check your ID manually within one working day. Apart from name, address and date of birth, no data from the ID documents will be transmitted to Begadi. After 60 days at the latest, your data is anonymized in the AVS and the ID documents are automatically deleted.

I am 14 / 15, the 0.5s are from 14, what about me?
Begadi only ships airsoft guns <0.5 joules / only from a minimum age of 16 years. Why? DHL only offers the age check for delivery from a minimum age of 16 years, as well as Insic the check for ID card recognition. Therefore, it is currently not possible for us to carry out a two-stage age check for persons under 16 years of age and for this reason we sell <0.5 joule items from a minimum age of 16 years - possession and use according to WaffG. is not affected!

We have a team account in the name of our team - can we use it?
Unfortunately, no. It is no longer possible to have an account in a team name. Your team leader can still order for you, but the owner and validated person must be the same natural (existing) person! Unfortunately, this is based on the current legal interpretation!

Can I only have orders delivered to my billing address?
No, don't worry! It is very important to us that you retain the flexibility you are used to from us! You can still have deliveries made to relatives, friends or your workplace - however, the recipient must be of the required age and be able to provide proof of age!

Can I still have deliveries made to packing stations?
No! Unfortunately, this is not possible - Packstations require you to be of legal age, but anyone can open them with the access card or access code. However, you can have your parcel sent directly to a DHL post office by entering the following as the address
- First name & cash on delivery
- Post office number
- Zip code & town.
The DHL employee will then carry out an age check when you collect the parcel from the branch (please have your ID ready as a precaution).

I am verified as 16 - do I have to repeat the whole process when I am 18?
No! The system is designed for one-time verification - as soon as your data is verified, you will automatically be verified as 18 on your 18th birthday!

I am moving house, do I have to repeat my proof of age?
No! The proof of age is valid once and from then on in our store for your account!

Verification by handover - how does that work? Do I have to be present myself?
No, you don't have to be present yourself, any member of your household, roommate or work colleague can accept the parcel for you - he/she just has to be the right age!

I have problems with the AVS - can't I just create a new account?
No, please do not create a second account! If you delete your store account yourself and/or create a second AVS account, this will not solve the problem, but it will make troubleshooting much more difficult for us! If you have a problem that is not solved here, please contact our customer service / support, we will find a solution for you!


Technical issues with AVS / procedure
Proof of age with my ID card, driving license or passport - how does itwork?
It's very simple - the holder of the online account used to place the order must undergo a one-off age check before the order is sent. Once this has been successfully completed, it will be registered in the customer account and no further verification will be necessary before shipping. This check ensures that the account holder has reached the required minimum age. Upon delivery, the delivery person will then check again whether the required minimum age has been reached, thus ensuring that the parcel cannot be accepted by an unauthorized person.

Age verification via your ID card is the quickest, easiest and most secure method of proving your age. To do this, you need to scan or photograph your ID and upload it to your Begadi account under "Proof of age". An automated system checks all data for correctness and verifies you! After 60 days, all data will be anonymized and your privacy will be completely protected! Verification usually takes less than 1 minute! This service is available for customers throughout Europe (for travel documents valid in Europe such as passports and ID cards).

Proceed as follows:
- go to "My account --> Proof of age"
- click on "Not yet registered? Register" (normal "click", not in a new tab or window!)
- Enter your name, data and e-mail address and register.
- Then select ID as verification
- Select and upload a picture of the front and back

Please note: The ID card must be submitted as an image file (JPG or PNG) and in horizontal orientation.
Please do not submit inverted, upside down or as a PDF!


I don't have a German ID card, is it still possible?
Yes, the system recognizes several thousand (!) ID documents throughout Europe. You can also use passports, visas, driving licenses, etc.!
Excluded are: The UKARA/NABV ID card, the German. WBK and gun license, student ID cards, club cards and other club ID cards!

I don't currently have an ID card, can I send in someone else's?
No! This is actually prohibited by law! You must verify yourself with the ID document in the name of your customer account. Otherwise it is not possible!

My ID card has expired, will it still work?
Yes, it will work, but it can take up to 24 hours as it has to be checked!

Age verification with Giropay - how does it work?
Age verification via Giropay is available if you do not have an ID card or do not wish to use one for unspecified reasons! Similar to a payment procedure of an online service, you will be redirected to your bank's website, which will then guide you through the verification process. Here too, only your identity and age will be verified, no account data will be saved and/or transferred! Unfortunately, different providers have different processes, which is why we cannot provide any information on how to proceed for the large number of providers - however, the systems are very user-friendly and will then redirect you back to the store! GiroPay ID is only available for DE!

Errors and solutions
General information on proof of age via GiroPay
Since the proof of age with GiroPay is completely in the hands of your payment provider, we unfortunately cannot help you with any problems here, as the payment providers are not allowed to give us any information due to baking secrecy and the GDPR. You would have to contact your payment provider directly!

General information on proof of age with ID
Please note that the ID card must be photographed without a border, without flash and without dark areas. Blurred, overexposed or underexposed images, post-processed images or distorted images will delay the check. Even images photographed on edge cannot be read by the software!

Whenever I click on the arrow, nothing happens
The "arrow" is not a link and refers to the embedded function on the right-hand side of the screen. In some (mobile) browsers it can happen that the function is displayed below the text.

I cannot log in even though I have entered my store data 1:1?
Please note: The login for age verification is completely separate from the Begadi login, you do not automatically have an AVS account if you are registered in the store. You have to create a new AVS account once!

When I try to open the AVS, I get "Page not found"
Please do not click on "Open page in new tab" or "Open page in new page" at "Register now", but just click in the classic way! This is not a conventional link, but a function call!

My AVS with ID card takes a very long time!
This can be due to various reasons, an unusual format, distorted images, data that differs from the rejection. If you do not see a change within 1 working day, please contact our customer service / support

I have scanned the ID card as a PDF, is that also possible?
Unfortunately not, the system requires the ID card as an image file. Also, conventional scans have too much margin, the system does not recognize an ID card in the top left corner of a DIN A4 sheet!

I have only uploaded the front side, is that enough?
No, the front and back must be uploaded, even for ID cards that only have one filled page - unfortunately the software cannot work otherwise!

The system says my account has been anonymized / deleted?
This happens if the AVS account was created and has not been fully verified AND more than 60 days have passed. In this case, please contact our customer service / support to have the account deleted - due to data protection regulations, we can no longer intervene here!

If my AVS account is deleted, will my orders be gone?
No, the AVS account is independent of the Begadi account!

I am verified, but my account does not show it?
Please press CTRL + F5 once when you are logged in to the store, sometimes the browser hiccups the change.

Although I am verified, I received an e-mail that I have to verify myself again?
This can happen under 2 circumstances and unfortunately cannot be changed:
  1. Your proof of age submitted before 2019 is no longer valid, is defective or has been deleted by you
  2. You have used another person's ID card
In both cases, we cannot intervene and the AVS must be redone with the correct ID.

I have a problem, can Insic help me too?
