During bad weather, you stay at home or get wet - sounds wise in theory, but in real practice that is an rare option or is not an option at all - Or you happen just to not want to stay inside. Then it is important to have reasonable weather protection with you! Over the past 10 years, we've been dedicated to this problem and developed our very own priorities for protection against weather.

Our first focus was that we did not just want to do a simple overlayer or an outdoor jacket. The user should be able to decide for himself which use he prefers.
For the material, we opted for the same 2-layer laminate as for our bivy bag, as it is both highly water-repellent and extremely breathable (see info below for breathability).
As a partner, we also opted for our bivy back partner, who has been supplying the Norwegian military and Australian forces for more than 10 years, the perfect conditions for an all-weather product.

The jacket is designed as a half-length jacket to provide sufficient protection, but also to work with holsters and subloads without beeing affected. The cut is wide enough and the sleeves are arranged so that you can also work overhead without standing "bare-shouldered"!
Two large chest pockets and two sleeve pockets provide amble storage space. The hood can be rolled up and stowed in the collar, all zippers are designed as water-repellent YKK zipper. The elastic hem prevents cooling by wind. All seams are welded with PTFE tape!

About the laminate:
We have chosen a very high quality laminate, the factory specifications set here a water column of 10,000mm and a water vapor permeability of also 10,000MVP. The latter was the most important factor for us, even the cheapest laminates nowadays provide a water column of 8000-10000, but stagnate at an MVP value of 5000. Practical example: When we tested the clothing, we arrived at -17°c after 8h in a snow storm in a heated accommodation - and had no sweating build up inside.
What is important to understand: A laminate is always water repellent, never waterproof. Mechanical stress (such as friction), soiling and soap residue can affect the water column. At the last bivouac, we had a thunderstorm that drove the rain from all directions into the camp and pressed the Tarps almost flat against the bivy bags made of the same material. After 3 hours weak spots had been created at the places where the wet tarps rubbed on the laminate - the rest was completely dry.
Tips for care and use:
- Choose the propper size for you! We also will help you, if needed!
- Clean the garment with lukewarm water and mild soap (gentle washing at 30°c) - Rinse off all soap residue under all circumstances!
- Renew, depending on usage, the DWR coating with a commercial impregnating sprays, from time to time
- Maintain the zippers in winter with wax or silicone spray
