Lipo batteries maintain their voltage almost up to the very end in comparison to conventional NiCD batteries, can deliver a higher current flow and maintain it even under load.
The storage of Lipo batteries is also easier, since they hardly lose any power during storage and can be easily charged from any state of charge without memory effect.
Disadvantages are that Lipo batteries can catch fire in case of overload or cell defect.
A high-quality charger including a balancer are therefore recommended to safely charge the LiPo battery.
